Is it even a UK Lemmy instance if we’re not talking about the weather?

I’ve just come back from thailand and although outside is hotter over there, the buildings are much much cooler. I’ve been sat in a sweaty room where even coding is sweaty work ! haa

I had the same experience in Malaysia. Weirdly more comfortable over there than here.

I’ve got to say that I love this weather. Give me this over wind and rain any day. Great excuse to sit in the garden and do nothing!

I’ve started climate change proofing my home by planting shady trees on the South facing side, problem is they’re all still a few centimeters tall! 😭 Just need things to stay cool for a a few more years…

There’s lots you can do, I’m also planning on growing something leafy up that side of the house, upping some insulation, getting external shutters to keep the sun out… But it all takes time and money.

Worst thing you can do is install aircon but I fear that’s the direction this crazy country will go in…

I’m in a new build flat, so my options are limited, but ive been looking into putting some shady trees or tall shrubs in the balcony.

We had a sun sail hung up outside the windows last year during the 40c hear wave. Deffo made a difference, but look a bit ridiculous from outside haha.

We got a portable air con for when it was too unbearable, but shouldn’t need it in the first place!

Yeah, that’s the problem. We really should be housebuilding like it’s the South of France and the North Pole. Sun sail sounds like a good idea, but amazing how much difference some greenery makes too.

As someone who got their mind blown by brits wearing shorts and t-shirts in winter, I guess the temperatures have risen above 10C.

After sitting in a cold room all winter I want hotter.

Must remember this year to bottle some of the heat to store for winter.

Only gonna get hotter. It’s insane that it isn’t even summer yet and no one I know personally or political leaders are choosing to do anything about climbing change. We really need to get on it guys!
