It’s pretty nice, especially in combination with slurp which lets you select a part of the screen.
I have this mapped to my printscreen shortcut: grim -g "$(slurp)" - | wl-copy, which lets you select a part of the screen to screenshot, and copies the image to the clipboard.
The only one i still have issues with is going from xbox to nintendo controllers, because they use the same abxy face buttons, but they switched them around.
I like what switch games do when you’re using a single joy-con, they just show a button with an arrow pointing to which direction the button is, so what’s printed on the button doesn’t matter at all.
I think the gyro and layout of the switch pro controller are good, but it just feels so cheap, and the buttons are way too mushy. Also doesn’t have analogue triggers. The d-pad is pretty terrible as well.
Overall not a great controller imo.
I’m not sure about the others, but I’m pretty sure Hitman isn’t linux native.
As far as I can find on protondb, neither are Deus Ex or Tomb Raider.
I’ve never had any issues running those games through Proton though, so that’s great.

I also loved this game on the 3DS. I’ve recently been playing the N64 version as well, and I gotta say the 3DS version is so much better. I’m not sure what it is, but movement feels a lot less precise to me in the N64 version. I have some replays of me trying, and failing, to break a pot with my sword as adult link, like 8 times before finally hitting it.
Also, I finally understand why everyone hates the water temple. The iron boots aren’t an item in this version, so you have to go to the equipment menu every time you want to put them on/take them off.
Proton drive has a photo backup option in the app, but their gallery thing is still lacking in features. You can’t edit or crop photos, and you can’t create albums and stuff like that. It’s really just a list of photos and nothing more.
Single-player console games being 30fps is not new by any stretch
Yeah I know, that’s why I never really got into console gaming unfortunately. As I said elsewhere, I genuinely have trouble making out objects while looking around in first-person games, if it’s running at 30fps.
Didn’t know about the current gen having performance settings, that’s pretty neat. Might actually consider getting one if I can actually run games at a reasonable framerate on them with a lower quality setting.
Yeah but on PC you usually get graphics settings you can tune to whatever you like. I’d personally rather have a slightly worse looking game running at 60+fps, than a beautiful one at 30.
I’d say 60+fps is especially necessary for first-person games. I seriously have issues making out objects and other things when looking around first-person at 30fps.
The people that keep saying that should really just try to use a 144+hz monitor for a while. Surely they’ll be able to notice the difference as well.
Well that’s nice of them, now you can easily just change that password which of course you only use for one account.
That’s not the only issue, fat32 also has a hard limit on single file size. The largest a single file can be is 4GiB, and afaik you just can’t get around that with fat.
iirc, the way windows deals with this in its media creation tool is that it strips out locales and other things you don’t need, based on the options you selected previously, so the file ends up being small enough to fit.
Wait why was iso not intended to be used like this? As far as I can see, it was always meant as a digital image of a CD, which is how it was used, and pretty much still is right?
iirc there was a reason you should use dd instead of directly copying the data, I think something to do with device block alignment or something?
No, the drive needs a boot partition for the bios to know there is something to be booted on the drive.
Most Linux ISO’s do properly include the partitions in the ISO, so you can clone the iso to a drive and that should work, using dd for example. But just copying the files won’t work.
iirc windows iso’s did use to support just creating a fat32 partition and moving all the files over, not sure how they managed that. But now the international ISO for win 11 has a file that’s more than the max 4Gb allowed by fat32, so you can’t do that anymore either.
Ahh I guess they probably got my subdomains from let’s encrypt then, used them for pretty much all my websites.
Edit: Just checked and yup, all my old subdomains are there from let’s encrypt.
