How many upvotes can i give this?
Thank you for the motivation
When i was younger (before kids) i read a lot - mostly Stephen King and classics and it’s still what i really like. Kids are grown, but i have a hard time saying, “I’m going to sit here for an hour and read.” There’s always something to do…bills, husband, animals, house, yard, etc. and when i veg I mostly turn to mindlessly browsing my phone because it’s 2 minute chunks that you can put down anytime. After 15 years of working at the same job i just found out that my lunch break is 60 minutes instead of 30 - maybe I’ll bring a book and try to use that time to read.
I have a friend who teaches high school history and has traveled a lot. She’s great at this! I feel like i can talk to her about almost anything and she never makes me feel stupid.
I dunno…distractions, too much commitment, feels indulgent,… ? Just got a book for my birthday and read the first 100 pages aloud in the car because my husband and son wanted to hear it. Now it’s been on my coffee table for two weeks and I’m struggling to pick it back up.
We love darts. If you find a good dart bar you can have a couple of hours of fun for the price of a soda. During covid we hung our board on our backyard fence so we could have friends over for game night.
I like her. She makes jokes, but seems to be very fair
Oh man. I wish i could read a book!
I’m terrified of snakes. In my dream i saw one and then was afraid to go to sleep because i was worried i would dream about it.
I lost my mom this year. She lost her mom as a child and was the last of her siblings to go. I hope they were there to greet her. She was really looking forward to that.
A tracker on my key for when i lose it.
Do they have a lot of customers who pop in but don’t stay long?
Google News is my usual browse, then AP, Reuters, or axios. Radio npr. Tv msnbc but i get tired of the pundits.
Yeah, from the beef council. Also, “The more you know…” Those were kind of like advertisements. I tried to post pics of some Cuban billboards but this app wouldn’t do it. I’ll try again. They basically blame everything on the US embargo.
Is it about the size of the animal? Is there a large animal that produces enough meat to offset the environmental damage per serving? Chickens seem very gross and labor intensive for one family meal (unless you count eggs) where a cow seems happy to eat grass and produce a lot of meals. I realize most cows are disturbingly fattened and I’ve started trying to buy farm meat from local butchers. I think i read that Chipotle uses better (happier?) meat than most other restaurants. Also, i just started leaving about Temple Gramdin’s work for humane animal farming.
We’ve started doing this too. Tastes better and no leftovers that get thrown away.
Is red meat worse than pork or poultry?
I can see that. OMG kind of gets me - the use of the acronym with spoken letters when it’s the same number of syllables as the actual phrase.
Flowers. Even a cheap bunch from the grocery looks nice for several days and reminds you that someone thought of you.
