I would agree way this, with one caveat: Does OP plan to game on Linux?
Gaming on Linux has come very far, but it’s not perfect and not something you can really get a feel for in a USB live environment. At that point rather to dual boot and try sticking with Linux for a while.
Pretty much same. Feels sad to say, but I use Pixelfed much the same way I do Instagram.
Using the iOS TestFlight app for well over a year (is this thing ever going to hit the App Store?).
I actually prefer Chrome’s tab groups, preferring to have groups visible and one click away. Ideally the user would be able to choose whether to show or hide inactive groups.
My T480 does everything I need. Picked it up for $200 and spent another $100-$150 to get brand new batteries, a pretty good screen, much faster storage, and upped it to 24GB of RAM. Pretty awesome. Pop!_OS runs like a charm.
Well, I’ve only changed distros a handful of times. But, I’ve broken my system more than a few times, as well. Back when I had more time I tinkered a lot more than I do now haha

Yeah… unless they’re doing some serious optimization for that particular laptop, 14-hours seems like a best-case-scenario kind of thing.
Just curious, the 72WH battery? What’s a “long time?” I use the standard slim battery on my T480 and was only getting 3-4 hours on Pop (both brand new batteries). And forget about standby. It would regularly lose 20-30% overnight if not completely shut down. Wanted to make it work, but that alone made me boot back into Windows for the laptop.
Same here. I also don’t understand people saying they don’t want to wait for cold brew… You literally make it the day before and I have 3-4 days worth of coffee ready to go. Literally hop out of bed, pour, drink. It’s been a game changer for me.
I still enjoy the process and and warmth of a pour over when time allows, so I’m getting the best of both!

Podcasts in the car to and from work, and while at work (WordPress Developer) with wireless earbuds. I listen to music when I’ve gotten through my feed of podcasts or when reading a book. Lofi and classical are both great for listening while reading, but while coding I prefer high energy music like math rock or metalcore/mathcore.

On the one hand, great, I don’t want Meta anywhere near something I like. On the other hand, my friends are going to be on Threads, not Mastodon, so it’d be nice to follow them without having to go there.
Seems to mostly be texts, but lately it’s not been all texts? Also happens with some emails and all Tasks notifications. I’ve kind of given up and just deal with it haha

A lot of the people I follow are trying out Threads, but because of no federation yet, you need to use their app to see what they post there. It’s a bit clumsy and I don’t think that they launched without fed on accident.
I wonder if we’ll also see people posting on both Threads and Mastodon, which will mean having to follow two accounts for one person if I want to see both. Just seems odd to use both rather than migrate.
Trying to think positive about this, but just not seeing many upsides so far.
To piggy-back off this, take stock of your current favorite games and do some searching to find out how those have worked out for others. ProtonDB is a great resource for games on Steam. Outside Steam it can often be done, but can be a headache.
I will typically try a game on Linux first, but keep Windows around and will just boot into that if I cant get up and running pretty quick. Don’t have time to deal with the tinkering all day haha
I have to imagine many of these investors also have money in areas whose prices have skyrocketed due to “inflation.” They’ve seen the profits other industries are getting away with and now big tech feels the need to do the same. These companies are supposed to be the future, after all… How will it look if big oil is more profitable than mainstream digital platforms? To investors, it looks bad.
Sadly, when your ability to generate profit relies on using your users (or the developers and mods that run your platform cough Reddit) like cheap labor, rather than providing better product at reasonable prices, digital platforms suffer in usability or features. It’s kind of a lose lose for anyone that actually cares, because so far the market hasn’t self-corrected.
Some instances/servers are currently not capable of uploads larger than ~100kb, so a good image CDN is desired.
He is essentially saying, “we are unable to make a profit, so our plan is to use someone else’s profit to make money.”
