I’m especially bothered with the realization of how little regard many of our fellow citizens actually have for others health and well-being. I don’t know how eager i am to return to a society that can’t even agree on diseases being a bad thing.
Totally agree about the empty gestures too, which really stood as a reminder of how little respect healthcare workers (and don’t forget funeral directors and morticians!) actually get especially considering how much they risk for everyone else’s sake
I appreciate the recommendation! Thanks!
Any suggestions for a different company to buy cables etc from? I’ve bought their chargers and cables and been happy with them but I’m fine with trying something different next time.
Can’t blame em for trying i guess, I’m just salty cuz i loved that franchise back in the day. Might be fun though, if it’s done right
It’ll be like GTA except you can’t get out of the car ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
¿Porque no los dos? 💈
Well isn’t that great, mr. moneybags

Yes I’m making a stupid joke bc it’s a paid search engine, something i never would have imagined would be a thing. Now I’m going to price it and perhaps finally pull the trigger on an acct there because fuck google, fuck bing, and fuck all these sites being “wrappers” of them. I come from the dial-up days when lycos, webcrawler, altavista, yahoo–hard searches that would separate the men from the boys. Now we just get this “A.I.” bullshit instead and it falls apart under its own weight. Excuse me while i wave my cane at the sun ☀️
Edit: so it turns out you can get 100 free searches on their site here: https://kagi.com/onboarding?p=choose_plan
Otherwise, it’s $5/month for 300 searches, $10/mo for unlimited, and $25/mo for their “ultimate” exclusive experience…whatever that may be. I’m gonna try the freebies and see what happens. I’m still on the fence about paying for search, but I’m really tired of bs coming from these companies leading to things like we’re experiencing today
↖️This is the real life pro-tip right here
I also enjoy getting some cone crunch from the top half of the treat, that looks really good imo
You wouldn’t download an island…?!
From what i gather, they waited until after the reviews were in. They got a good score, which i guess would have been impacted by the inclusion of microtransactions, and released them after the reviews were in. Sounds like they were trying to avoid the bad press they would have gotten for including them (or perhaps purchases even, from people starkly against the practice)
Seems more to do with the way things line up–it’s a perfect example of a physical and digital game getting permanently shut down without any sort of refund or compensation to the buyers of the game. It sounds like it’s about setting precedent so people will have a better idea of how this kinda stuff is going to work in the future.
I was using a hand grinder for years before i finally decided to plunk down the $ on a good electric grinder. Based on the reviews I’d read over the years the Encore really seems like the best grinder for the $, even though it’s relatively expensive. If you’re gonna use it daily, it’s a worthy investment. It’s fast, reliable, consistent, and it’s also built to be taken apart for cleaning/maintenance. It’s one of these situations where “buy once, cry once” could apply.
If looking for a bargain, you can always try to score one open box on eBay…
What is anymore, in the age of Amazon and Alibaba
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
How bout trains in the distance? Every so often i can hear one from my house and it is very comforting in that odd way
I do too! From the oldest to the newest, they all have something to offer. I just fixed up a 1976 Williams Grand Prix for a friend’s family and I can’t get over how much action that old game has under the hood. I mean that in 2 ways actually: it’s literally loaded with mechanicals, it’s considered one of the more complex games of its generation… But it also plays strong and fast, just needed some switches cleaned and adjusted and a flipper rebuild and some other odd tweaks/rebuilds and it plays better than it’s probably played in 25+ years. Check out the inlane/outlane setup–it’s pretty sneaky, I still lose a ball occasionally trying to trap it on the flipper :)
Nice variety of games on that list! Wheel of Fortune is a very interesting game, also dig Iron Man and definitely Attack from Mars. Dr. Who is cool too – though I’ll admit I don’t have too much experience with that game. Always loved the multi-level mechanism towards the back of the playfield–very cool feature!!
I’m personally drawn very much towards the late 70’s/early 80’s generation of games. For me, that era captures the perfect blend of art, playfield design, sounds, and nostalgia. Not to mention, they tend to be pretty consistent ass-kickers, not usually allowing very long ball times. I like my games very difficult, lol! Someday I’d like to get a ‘deeper’ game… But space is at a premium at this point and I’m not really looking to get rid of too many of the pins I have, so it’ll probably be a while before that happens…
Very cool!! Nice to be reasonably close to a place like that. Which pins do you play the most there?
I’ve been collecting for years, myself :)
Good stuff! I enjoy Banzai Run as well, my buddy and I always get a few rounds on that one at our local pinball haunt. That vertical playfield is super cool!
Never got to clock much time on Indy or Dredd, love AFM though. That’s a game i would consider for my collection someday–that one or Medieval Madness, both are just awesome games. I collect mostly late-70’s/early 80’s solid state games, though i have a particular soft spot for the classic Bally’s and Sterns from that era…
